YOUNG golfing sensation Vincent Chidambazina secured his second title of the season in dramatic fashion, capturing the Masvingo Amateur Championship after a dramatic playoff victory over Elton Zulu at Masvingo Golf Club on Sunday.
Chidambazina entered the final round with what appeared to be a comfortable four-shot cushion over Zulu.
He had put himself in a commanding position after carding impressive earlier rounds of 71 and 69. However, the final round proved to be a test of nerve.
Chidambazina struggled to find his rhythm, carding a 4-over-par 76 and dropping four crucial shots.
The resilient Zulu capitalised on the leader's stumbles. By shooting a steady, even-par final round, Zulu erased the deficit and forced a sudden-death playoff.
The tension was palpable at Masvingo Golf Club as the two golfers battled it out. After matching each other on the first playoff hole, Chidambazina showed tremendous grit to win the title on the second playoff hole, sealing a memorable victory.

While the top two fought for the crown, the rest of the field chased closely behind. Blessing Gondo and Cosmas Siyakono put up a strong fight to finish tied for third place on an overall score of 5-over-par.
They were followed closely by Absalom Phiri, who completed the top five after finishing the tournament at 6-over-par.
This victory cements Chidambazina’s status as one of the country's most exciting young talents. Just last month, he etched his name into the history books by winning the inaugural PaRuwa Open at Ruwa Country Club.
In that tournament, Chidambazina (+7) entered the final day trailing frontrunners Blessing Gondo (+8) and Kelvin Muchenje (+11).
As the leaders dropped shots under pressure, Chidambazina’s controlled and mature final round allowed him to leapfrog the field for a historic win.
With two prestigious titles already under his belt this season, Vincent Chidambazina is proving that he has both the skill to dominate and the mental toughness to win under immense pressure.
