HARARE, Feb 27 (NewsDay Live) – Zambian cue sensation Kelvin Nkandu, popularly known as Fikoti, maintained his commanding form on his tour of Zimbabwe after edging out local star Pakanati Jimu, also known as Sir of Sirz, in a high-stakes showdown at Megga 1 on Thursday afternoon.

Fikoti emerged 18–14 victorious in a thrilling contest that lived up to its billing, pocketing US$1 000 in the process.

The match drew significant attention from pool enthusiasts, with both players showcasing tactical precision, clinical finishing and mental resilience. However, Pakanati conceded several frames too easily, allowing the Zambian to capitalise and seal the contest in the closing stages.

The victory further cements Fikoti’s growing dominance on Zimbabwean soil, where he has quickly established himself as the man to beat during his tour.

However, the challenge is far from over.

On Friday afternoon at Megga 1, Fikoti faces another stern examination when he takes on Timothy Onida, better known as Sakala, in a US$800 clash. Sakala is widely respected for his composed approach and ability to punish the slightest errors, setting the stage for what promises to be another explosive encounter.

Looking ahead, Fikoti’s tour could reach boiling point on Monday if anticipated match-ups against perennial rivals materialise. Zimbabwe’s seasoned competitor Malvern Mukonza, famously called Maluva, is widely tipped as one of the few players capable of halting the Zambian’s momentum.

Equally dangerous is Eshca Chimbwanda, known in pool circles as Eshca Motors, whose aggressive shot-making and fearless style have troubled many visiting players in the past.

With money matches on the line and pride at stake, Fikoti’s Zimbabwe tour is rapidly turning into a showcase of regional supremacy.

Whether he can maintain his dominance against Zimbabwe’s finest remains the question gripping the local pool community.
