The players engaged Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa and told him that they would not play today’s third ODI if they were not paid by end of yesterday.

The players’ union which is comprised of senior players Hamilton Masakadza, captain Brendan Taylor, Prosper Utseya, Elton Chigumbura and Vusi Sibanda engaged the ZC in a letter informing them that they had stopped operations till they get paid.

Zimbabwe Cricket’s media and communications manager Lovemore Banda, however, said the players had only mulled a boycott before latter returning to training.

“The players had talked boycotting practice, but did not. There were blowers and batsmen meetings then a net session after that.”
