The end of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ (ZDF) Operation Restore Legacy and the subsequent handover of all police work to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has been received with cynicism by some Zimbabweans.

The ZRP’s record is tainted by allegations of corruption and suppression of citizen’s rights, and in his statement, army commander Lieutenant-General Philip Valerio Sibanda, said the ZRP “are expected to perform according to their constitutional mandate and Client Service Charter.”
