A 28-YEAR-OLD man who assaulted his wife after being given a small portion of sadza was on Monday sentenced to four months in prison by Marondera magistrate, Jabulani Mzinyathi, who found him guilty of domestic violence.

BY Jairos Saunyama Brian Murefu, of Musoseri village under Chief Madzimurema in Seke, had pleaded guilty to assaulting his 29-year-old wife Juliet Muradza.

He will, however, perform 104 hours of community service at Mudzimurema Clinic in Seke after his imprisonment was commuted to doing work for no pay.

According to the State, on November 15 this year at around 10pm, Murefu returned home drunk before demanding supper from his wife.

Murefu was not impressed by the size of the portion of sadza his wife served him before he attacked her using clenched fists, resulting in Muradza sustaining injuries on her forehead.
