Fifteen Ethiopians appeared at the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court on Monday facing charges of contravening the Immigration Act after they allegedly entered the country without travel documents and using an illegal entry point last week.

The suspects were arrested at Nyamakate along the Harare-Chirundu Highway following a tip-off from members of the public.

Chinhoyi magistrate Patience Chirimo remanded them in custody to Friday for trial on condition the State secures an Amaharic interpreter.

It is the State case that on January 18, 2016, police officers received information that there were some foreign nationals who had entered the country through an undesignated entry point along the Zambezi River Gorge.
