JEHOVAH’S Witnesses (JW) spokesperson John Hunguka yesterday commended the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) for affording authors and publishers an opportunity to showcase their publications. The Witnesses are exhibiting at the ZIBF for the first time this year.

Through the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, JWs have established a significant amount of printed and electronic literature including their best known publications, The Watchtower and Awake! magazines.
Hunguka, who was manning the JW exhibition stand at the Zimbabwe International Book Fair yesterday, hailed the “superb job” being done by the ZIBF, which he said provided a platform for writers to network and share their materials with the reading public.
“At the Fair, we met a lot of exhibitors, both local and international, and we have had the opportunity to mingle,” he said.
Hunguka added that the book fiesta also provided them an opportunity to spread the Kingdom message as there were many schoolchildren and people from across the region who made stopovers at their stand.

He said the literature was inspirational as it touched on many important aspects of life.
“Our books teach young people on how to conduct themselves during different situations and the way to live as Christians,” Hunguka said.
He said he was happy that people were flocking to their stand in huge numbers.
“Actually, from the first day we realised we needed two stands combined into one because the place was getting too crammed due to the unexpected influx of people,” he said.
Hunguka said there was an overwhelming response by schools, students, adolescents and the public visiting the stand.
“Many who visit the stand are asking to collect our publications on display. But because of the quality of the publications they always ask how much the books cost and when we tell them we are offering the publications for free they are amazed. Such has been the success of the exhibition this week. People are taking for themselves Bibles — English, Shona and all other publications they may want for free,” he said.
