AN 18-year-old Nyamandlovu man has been slapped with an effective seven-year jail term for sneaking into his neighbour’s bedroom and raping the latter’s 19 year-old wife at knife point.

The incident happened on August 1 after the rapist took advantage of the absence of complainant’s husband.
In passing sentence, Bulawayo regional magistrate, Sibongile Msipa Marondedze said the incident smacked of premeditation on the part of the rapist.
Prosecutor Conciliar Ncube told the court that the victim was sleeping alone when the rapist broke into her bedroom hut wielding two knives and raped her. The victim later called her husband and narrated her ordeal leading to the rapist’s arrest.
