A BULAWAYO man has landed himself in trouble after he allegedly masqueraded as a Zanu PF official and solicited for donations.

Khumbulani Mpofu (age not given) was not asked to plead to the alleged fraud charge on Saturday when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Shithembiso Ncube.

Mpofu, of Pumula North, was granted $50 bail and remanded to November 11.

The court heard that on October 18 this year, Mpofu, who works in the Ministry of Youth in the city, went to Buffalo Cycles company with forged a letter purporting to be from Zanu PF and asked for donations in cash or fuel.

He allegedly presented the letter to one of the company’s officials, Joseph Kambepo, and was advised to come back the following day. Mpofu was arrested on October 21,as he allegedly went to collect the donation.
