The accused, Erick Dzedenga Ncube, was not asked to plead to the fraud charge, when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Tinashe Tashaya.

He was remanded in custody to October 9 for trial.

The court was told that on April 28 this year, complainant, Londani Moyo (45) met Ncube in the city centre and the latter claimed to be a council employee and had the capacity to cancel his ballooning water bill.

Moyo allegedly paid a $270 bribe to Ncube to facilitate the deal.
