SWEDEN-based Zimbabwean author Luckson Chikutu has published a book titled Flashback Identity written in Swedish in a move he said was meant to promote cultural diversity between the two countries.

The English translation of the book would be available early next year, said Chikutu, who has been living in the Scandinavian country for almost 20 years.
“My first Swedish book, Flashback Identity, is ready now, but the English translation will be ready next year,” he said.
The author, who is also the brains behind the ZIMFEB festival, a cultural and arts exchange programme that has brought together artists from the two countries, said the book promoted cultural diversity and reflected on the cultural heritage of his home country.
“The writing of the book has been a long journey with positive insights I received and a high ambition to write about my family’s history, the cultural heritage I learnt as I grew up. The book describes music business and how music and dance are used and have influenced humanity through the ages of Zimbabwean society,” he said.

Chikutu said he wanted to use the publication to build bridges between diverse cultures.
“The upcoming generation in the two countries mentioned here, must learn more about past cultural events in order to understand where they come from,” he said.
Chikutu went to Sweden through the Swedish International Development Agency project in 1998, while working with an organisation called Studiefrämjandet and a theatre group called Tio Fotter in Uppsala, Sweden.
