Council engineer Sherinah Sibanda said the earthmoving equipment was sourced from the United Kingdom through a loan provided by a local bank.

According to officials, the machine would be used for a wide variety of tasks including construction, demolitions, light transportation of building materials, excavation, landscaping, and paving roads

“The machine will help us to revamp our road networks especially in high density areas like Chinotimba and Mkhosana where most of the road are gravel,”she said.

“We have been waiting for a long time to get this machinery considering that there are heavy rains that will leave a trail of destruction on our roads and we will be able to attend to them immediately without having to outsource.”

Town clerk Ronnie Dube said it was their wish to equip the engineering department as it lagged behind in terms of equipment.

“Our next target is to get them a pneumatic roller, a tipper truck and a grader among other equipment.

“All these are efforts to improve our people’s lives and for the development of our town. Very soon we will be starting to also install our solar streets lights that we also purchased last year.”
