Muzarabani Rural District Council chief executive Ennie Gwachiwa confirmed the incident to members of the media, who toured the province.

“The strong winds occurred about two days ago and we have already activated the Civil Protection Unit (CPU). The CPU takes care of some of these issues when we normally have floods or strong winds. The affected families are from Chadereka ward 1 in Chimoio,” he said.

Gwachiwa said the council was also assessing the food situation in the area because the district is prone to natural disasters.
