The trial of former Zanu PF Victoria Falls mayor, Sifiso Mpofu, and his two accomplices was on Tuesday postponed again despite the accused pleading with the court to have the trial commence.

Mpofu (42) Milton Sibindi (47) and Phathiso Sibanda (49), who reside in Mkhosana suburb, were not asked to plead to the charge of illegally possessing 11 elephant tusks weighing 120kg when they appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje.

The matter was postponed to June 4 after the prosecutor, who was supposed to deal with the matter, got involved in an accident and could not attend court.

The three are represented by Thulani Nkala, who confirmed the postponement yesterday.

They are out of custody on $500 bail each after their application for bail was recently granted by the Bulawayo High Court.
