Preparations for the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) annual general meeting are at an advanced stage.

The congress is scheduled for June 29-July 1. The congress will be held under the theme, “Economic transformation challenges: Mapping the way forward”.

ZNCC president Trust Chikohora said Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai would be the guest of honour. He said the congress theme follows up from last year’s theme: “From stability to economic growth”.

“We are encountering challenges as an economy and we want to see how we can overcome these obstacles, hence this year’s theme,” Chikohora said. “We want to come up with measures that can be used as corrective measures to the obtaining situation,” he said.

Malawi Chamber of Commerce president and chairman of the Comesa business council, Matthew Chinkankheni, will attend the congress. Chikohora said the chamber expects to learn from the Malawian experience at the congress.

Some of the topics that will be tackled at the congress include business ethics, liquidity challenges, country risk profiles and energy challenges.
