The trial of eight MDC-T activists accused of attacking Zanu PF supporters in the run-up to the June 2008 presidential election run-off has been postponed to February 1 next year.

The postponement follows the engagement of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) by the accused to defend them.

ZLHR lawyers asked for time to study the case before representing their clients in court.

The MDC-T activists are accused of waylaying Zanu PF supporters who were coming from a campaign rally and assaulting them with axes, knobkerries, stones, logs and setting dogs on them.

ZLHR project lawyer Lizwe Jamela yesterday confirmed the development.
