The body of a 16-year-old girl suspected to have committed suicide was yesterday retrieved from a disused mine pit in Entumbane, commonly known as Nkwalini.
The body was spotted on Monday evening by passers-by who made a report at Entumbane Police Station.
The girl reportedly went missing on Sunday and is suspected to have committed suicide because of a pregnancy.
Hundreds of people gathered to see the body being dragged out of the water by the police’s sub – aqua squad yesterday afternoon.
Locals identified the girl as Sindy Ncube, a Form 4 student at Entumbane High School.
Police spokesperson for Bulawayo Mandlenkosi Moyo said the cause of death was still unknown.
