CHINHOYI — A group of six suspected robbers who included two members of the Police Protection Unit was arrested by members of the public after they allegedly raided a shop.

The incident occurred at Kamhonde business centre in Makonde.

Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Clemence Mabweazara confirmed the incident which happened on Monday but declined to identify the two police officers implicated in the robbery.

It is alleged the group which identified itself as members of the Criminal Investigation Department stormed a tuckshop owned by Anyway Mudziwiriri claiming they were searching for gold.

They then turned on the shop owner and robbed him of $471 cash and a mobile phone.
