LUSAKA — President Robert Mugabe has been invited by his close regional friend Zambian President Michael Sata to officially open the 86th edition of Zambia’s Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka this Saturday.

In April this year, Sata officially opened the 53rd edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo after being invited by Mugabe.

Agricultural and Commercial Society of Zambia president Joseph Mwale announced during a media briefing on Saturday that Mugabe had been invited to officially open the show, adding the show had attracted more than 1 000 foreign and local exhibitors.

The show, whose cost has been estimated at more than K4 billion, is expected to open its gates to the public on Thursday.

Presidential spokesperson and Media, Information and Publicity permanent secretary George Charamba could not be reached for comment yesterday.
