The hotel general manager Paula January told NewsDay that refurbishment included the demolition and reconstruction of walls that demarcated the former executive bar, guest lounge, offices, veranda, ceilings, reception area and floor plan which has since started to bring returns to the business.

“The hotel has since begun to receive increased business with the refurbishments,” January said.

She said the Kadoma hotel and conference centre was earmarked for a facelift in 2011 to meet modern international standards.

The group was further looking at renovating the rest of the hotel including bedrooms. The project would be conducted in phases.

This will see the refurbishment of the Casitas and Villas as part of the second phase to start before the end of year.

RTG started drawing down its $7,5 million loan from Afreximbank to refurbish its hotels around the country beginning this year, to enable the group to continue offering market competitive products.

Refurbishments started in April this year and were expected to be finalised by end of the first quarter of 2013.
