A FOUL-MOUTHED Binga man, Zamani Mwembe, has been ordered to perform 210 hours of community service after he labelled a fellow villager a witch before assaulting her.

REPORT BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

Mwembe (29) from Sikalenge area was on Monday sentenced on his own plea of guilty to the charges when he appeared before magistrate Stephen Ndlovu.

Initially, the court sentenced him to six months in jail, but later wholly suspended the sentence on condition he performed community service work at Muchesu Clinic in Binga.

Prosecutor David Shiku told the court that on October 21 this year, Mwembe went to the complainant Maria Mungombe (59) ’s home where he accused her of bewitching him.

He then struck her with a stick on the head and left hand. Mungombe reported the incident to the police, leading to Mwembe’s arrest.
