When NewsDay arrived at the scene, the lifeless body of the deceased, identified as Ngoneni Francis Masuku (55) of 69 Lytham Drive in Glen Lorne, was still by the roadside.

Police spokesperson Tarirai Dube confirmed Masuku’s death saying he had left a suicide note when he took his life at the corner of Ridgeway North Road and Eddington Lane in Highlands.

“A motorist driving behind the now deceased at around 7am stopped at a robot. The robot turned green twice, but the vehicle in front remained stationary, prompting her to go and investigate. That is when she discovered that he had a knife stuck in his neck,” she said.

“When police arrived, they recovered the knife and a suicide note as exhibits.”
