Bulawayo City Council has temporarily suspended water-shedding in the city to facilitate smooth service delivery during the week-long Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), which kicks off today. Nqobile Bhebhe
Thousands of local and international visitors are expected in the city during the showcase.
City Engineer Simela Dube made the announcement during the Zimbabwe Water Infrastructure Summit at the ZITF yesterday.
“We are lifting water-rationing during the trade fair period in order for our visitors not to feel the pinch (of water-rationing)” he said.
Dube was presenting a paper titled City of Bulawayo Water and Waste Water: Challenges and Opportunities.
Council recently reduced the water-shedding schedule by 24 hours in some areas.

Initially water-shedding was 48 hours per week, but was later increased to 72 hours per week.
Dube said the culture of water conservation that had been embraced by residents had ensured that the city does not run out of
