VISITING Swedish Development Co-operation Agency (Sida) director-general Charlotte Petri Gornitzka is expected to meet with government representatives, United Nations agencies, other donors as well as civil society representatives to discuss various issues including human rights and provision of social services.

This morning, Gornitzka is expected to tour Harare City Library whose refurbishment was funded by Sweden through the Culture Fund.

In a statement, Anna Sofia Erasmie political and commercial counsellor at the Swedish Embassy said her country contributed over $30 million annually to Zimbabwe to assist in the promotion of human rights and the social situation.

“We also contribute to the Transitional Funds aiming at enhancing service delivery within the education and health systems. The Swedish-Zimbabwean development collaboration is also focusing on the objectives of democratic governance, a vibrant civil society and an independent and free media,” Erasmie said.
