The concert, which is being organised by Afro-jazz musician Dereck Mpofu under the theme From We-men to Our Women, is aimed at saluting women and the girl child.

Mpofu confirmed the developments to NewsDay but said the programme has not changed.

“Due to renovations at our initial venue, (Reps Theatre) we have decided to change the venue to Avondale Primary School Hall.

“All is set for the event and we are expecting several speakers among them Deputy Country Representative United Nations Women Zimbabwe Revai Makanje, Eve Gadzikwa from the Standards Association of Zimbabwe, Susan Makore and Divine Ndlukula from Securico among others,” Mpofu said.

He said he was optimistic that the concert will be a critical platform of engagement and awareness looking at what it means to be a woman in the African and global context.
