Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa on Sunday led 40 000 congregates as they swept clean the streets of Harare in a move that was hailed by many residents in the capital.

In a bid to help Harare reclaim its sunshine city status, the United Family International Church (UFIC) leader Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and his wife Prophetess Ruth, abandoned their bibles for the broom as they led by example leaving Fourth Street bus terminus clean.

According to church spokesman Pastor Prime Kufa the idea was to help compliment the efforts made by the City of Harare to clean the streets.

“We should not leave it to the council alone to do it, it needs a collective effort to clean our streets,” said Kufa adding that they will be doing this on a quarterly basis.
