The tobacco selling season got off to a chaotic start as anti-riot police had to be called to restrain tobacco farmers at Boka Tobacco Auction Floor who were protesting the low tobacco prices they have been offered.

Sales opened at $3,50 per kg compared to last year’s $4,85, but prices quickly sunk to as low as six cents per kg which lead to farmers protest.
