A MBADA Diamonds employee, Shakespeare Isaiah Marange, appeared at the Mutare Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing charges of stealing 10 pieces of diamonds.

The court heard that on March 10 this year, Marange who is employed as an electrician at Mbada Diamonds mine plant in Chiadzwa was assigned to attend an electrical fault at the plant.
It is alleged that while in the plant, Marange stole 10 pieces of diamonds but the gems were detected by a scan as he exited the plant, leading to his arrest.
Security personnel allegedly searched him and found the diamonds wrapped in a black insulation tape and stashed in the barrel of a ballpoint pen.
Magistrate Sekai Chiwundura granted him $100 bail and remanded the matter to April 14 for trial. Donald Mudadirwa prosecuted.
