PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Labour Court president Fatima Chikapamambo Maxwell to the High Court bench.
Chief Justice Luke Malaba is expected to swear her in for the High Court bench today.
She becomes the third Labour Court president to be elevated to the High Court bench after Justices Gladys Mhuri and Emilia Muchawa.
The Constitution allows the President to appoint judges in consultation with the Judicial Service Commission.
The appointment of Labour Court judges to the High Court is meant to increase the number of judicial officers, after some of them were promoted to the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court.
