The country’s macadamia industry recorded a 40 percent increase in production during the 2025/26 season, with ZimTrade saying this reflects the impact of increased investment in the sector.

“The growth of Zimbabwe’s macadamia industry is a clear indication of the opportunities available within the country’s agricultural sector,” the trade promotion body said.

“The 40 percent increase in production highlights the impact of investment, improved farming practices and the commitment of farmers to participate in high-value export-oriented agriculture.”

The organisation said the expansion of macadamia production was creating new economic opportunities beyond commercial farming, with thousands of people benefiting through employment opportunities and participation in the broader value chain, including processing, packaging and logistics.

“Macadamia production is not only about increasing volumes but also about creating sustainable livelihoods. The sector is supporting rural communities by generating income for farmers and creating jobs along the value chain,” said ZimTrade.

ZimTrade said the country’s improved position in the continental macadamia market presents opportunities for Zimbabwean producers to access international markets and strengthen the country’s export portfolio.
