BULAWAYO , Jul 9 (NewsDay Live) - A 20-year-old Karoi man has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl in the Tengwe area.
The court heard that the victim was herding cattle alone when she was attacked.
It is the State case that on April 4, 2026 at around 1100 hours, the offender and his unidentified accomplice approached the 15-year-old victim, both of them wearing face masks to hide their identity.
The teenage girl attempted to flee, but to no avail.
Following the attack, the rapist and his accomplice fled the scene.
The victim managed to identify the victim in her neighbourhood the following morni.g, leading to his arrest after he pleaded for forgiveness and offered financial compensation to the girl.
