BULAWAYO, June 20 (NewsDay Live) - Voting started in Tsholotsho RDC's wards 1,10 and 21 this Saturday morning amid allegations of vote-buying, intimidation and busing in of voters from other wards by the ruling Zanu PF party.
Independent candidate for Ward 21 Marx Sibanda, accused his Zanu PF counterpart Philip Mvundla of busing in voters from other areas to outvote his opponents.
Although Mvundla could not be reached for comment on the allegations, his provincial chairperson Richard Moyo said the ruling party will investigate the matter.
"Zanu PF does not allow such actions. This should be individuals doing it, and if found doing such,we disqualify such candidates," Moyo said
The by-elections were triggered by the dismissal of councillors Witness Khumalo (Ward 1), Jonathan Ndlovu (Ward 10) and Felix Tshuma (Ward 21) on corruption charges.
Ward 10 is being contested by three candidates, namely Simbisai Ndlovu of Zanu PF, Ncube of Zapu, and Ntando Siziba (Independent).
