The Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has officially appointed Mary Mumvuri MBE as its new Chief Executive Officer, the organization announced earlier today.

Mumvuri, a registered mental health nurse originally from Zimbabwe, who has served as the Trust’s Chief Nursing Officer since 2022, moves into the permanent role after leading the organization as acting CEO since August 2025. Her appointment is effective immediately.

The Trust, which provides mental health, learning disability, and children’s services across the region, emphasized that Mumvuri’s clinical roots were a decisive factor in her selection.

Eamonn Kelly, Chair of CWPT, praised the appointment, noting that Mumvuri’s background as a clinician brings a unique level of authenticity to the executive office.

"Mary is an exceptional leader whose background as a clinician and nurse brings invaluable insight," said Eamonn Kelly

"She shares our unwavering commitment to ensuring patient voice, staff engagement, and clinical outcomes are at the heart of everything we do,” stated Kelly

Mumvuri succeeds Mel Coombes MBE, inherited a mandate to oversee the next chapter of service delivery for Coventry and Warwickshire. In her first statement as permanent CEO, Mumvuri reinforced her commitment to a patient-first philosophy.

"As a nurse, I know how vital it is to the delivery of strong clinical outcomes that the voice of our patients, carers, and staff helps guide every decision we make," Mumvuri said.

She added that she aims to build on the Trust's existing reputation for compassionate care while working closely with regional partners to improve community services.

The transition comes at a pivotal time for the NHS provider as it continues to manage increasing demands for specialized mental health and learning disability support.
