ZANU PF political activist Jim Kunaka, who facing allegations of incitement to public violence, was further remanded to March 24 in a routine court appearance at the Harare Magistrates Courts.

The charges are linked to the late outspoken war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza, who early last year called for anti-government protests.

Kunaka appeared before provincial magistrate Ruth Moyo, who ordered that he remains in custody since police investigations are ongoing.

Moyo had previously ruled that Kunaka was not a suitable candidate for bail, citing that some of his alleged accomplices were still at large.

According to court papers, Kunaka, along with accomplices already on remand and others still being sought, allegedly conspired to incite the public to participate in an unlawful gathering.

The gathering, dubbed the “One Million Men March”, was reportedly organised by Geza to protest against President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The march was scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square in Harare and at another location in Mutare.

Organisers of the aborted march accused the President of corruption, looting, enabling criminal activities and undermining the Constitution.

The court heard that Kunaka and his alleged accomplices printed and distributed thousands of flyers promoting the march.

The flyers bore messages such as “Stop the looting — Zimbabwe is not for sale” and “Friday, October 17, 8am — Robert Mugabe Square”.

The flyers were distributed in various locations in Harare, including the central business district, Machipisa shopping centre, Mashwede Service Station, Tichagarika shops in Glen View and Budiriro 1 shops.

Police reportedly received a tip-off about flyers being distributed from a silver Toyota Aqua vehicle registration number AGI 8393.

The vehicle was tracked to Patrenda Road in Glen View 3, where police intercepted it and arrested some of Kunaka’s alleged accomplices.

Kunaka reportedly fled the scene.

Police recovered approximately 7 200 flyers from the vehicle, which were taken as evidence.

Several of Kunaka’s alleged accomplices are on remand, with cases registered under Harare Magistrates Court reference numbers CRB HREPN 8848/25 and HREPN 8980/25, as well as Mbare Magistrates Court case number CRB 7049/25.

Meanwhile, 10 war veterans arrested over the same charges have been granted US$200 bail each based on changed circumstances.
