BUHERA South Member of Parliament (MP), Ngonidzashe Mudekunye, on Tuesday appeared at the Chimanimani Magistrates Court facing a charge of public violence.
He appeared before magistrate Regis Mawarire who granted him US$100 bail.
The state alleged that on January 18, Mudekunye arrived at Birchenough Bridge driving his vehicle and ordered a female guard, Prettymore Kasiya, to allow a truck that was behind him to pass without weigh bridge documents.
Kasiya refused and Mudekunye became furious, after which he assaulted her with open hands.
Kasiya was left writhing in pain and bleeding.
She filed a police report and Mudekunye was arrested and detained by Mutare Police while in leg irons.
