A Kuwadzana man was yesterday sentenced to 18 years imprisonment at Chikurubi Maximum after he was found guilty of raping and impregnating his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
The convict appeared before Harare magistrate Noel Mupeiwa, who ruled that the evidence from the victim was overwhelming.
According to the prosecutor, Cecilia Mashingaidze, sometime in August last year, the convict approached the minor and demanded to have sex with her.
The court heard that after the juvenile refused, he threatened to chase the victim away from the house.
He then raped her repeatedly every three days since then. The matter only came to light when the victim fell pregnant.
Her mother then helped her to file a police complaint, lading to the arrest of the convict.
