A man who is currently serving at Chikurubi Maximum prison was on Friday before a Harare magistrate after sexually assaulting his cellmate.
Wirimai Gowero was remanded in custody by Marehwanazvo Gofa and advised to approach the High Court for bail.
Circumstances are that sometime in October 2025, the victim was sleeping in an cell which he shared with the accused person.
The court heard that Gowera then assaulted him, but the victim reported the attack to the prison officer who was on duty.
