Reigning Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Lisa Morgan, has embarked on an awareness campaign which will see her partnering with various stakeholders in the health sector to give members of the public free sugar level and blood pressure tests.
Morgan told NewsDay that the first awareness campaign will be along First Street in Harare today. She urged members of the public to go and their blood pressure and sugar levels tested, which are the main causes of renal failure.
Morgan said she was working hand-in-hand with Zundine Trading who donated the sugar testing kits to help boost her project.
Morgan decided to work on the awareness campaign because her brother, Jonathan Morgan, suffered renal failure.
“My passion came from my 18-year-old brother who suffers due to renal failure. He now needs a kidney transplant so I made it my responsibility to help everyone suffering from the same disease as I understand how it feels to suffer from it,” she said.
She added that she had identified another 14-year-old boy from Bulawayo named Dalubuhle Moyo who was also in need of a kidney transplant.

The awareness campaigns will be a build-up to a fundraising dinner which will be held on August 4 at Wild Geese in Harare.
“The dinner will be aimed at fundraising for Dalubuhle and Jonathan who will be the first beneficiaries of this project,” she said.
She will also present this project at the Miss International Beauty pageant where she will represent Zimbabwe in China in November.
