While other disc jockeys (DJs) take their time to always play the latest music when performing, DJ Keitho has chosen to stick to old school music.

DJ Keitho real name Keith Ndiweni told NewsDay yesterday he prefers to play old school music because he performs for a mature audience.

I have been playing old school music since 2006. Besides the fact that I like old school music myself, I also play music for a mature audience at Pub La Gondola where I work, said DJ Keitho.

The 26-year-old DJs old school selection has endeared him to revellers.

Most of them go to La Gondola just to listen to yesteryear music, a rarity in most entertainment venues locally as they tend to concentrate on the latest club hits.

DJ Keitho said the most popular music with revellers is from the 70s and 80s.

Besides performing in Bulawayo, he has also played similar music in Gwanda and Beitbridge.

Having started off as a barman in one of the citys nightspots, DJ Keitho said he later developed a keen interest in music and decided to try out his hand at deejaying.

I started as a part-time performer and now I work full time from Tuesday to Saturday. I feel there is not enough being done in Bulawayo to promote our own local musicians. I would also like to set up my own studio, he said.
