THE Embassy of India in Harare yesterday successfully organised an interactive Yoga and wellness session at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo.

The event saw the active participation of over 300 university students, marking another important stop in the embassy’s ongoing nationwide wellness initiative.

The session focused on basic yoga postures and breathing exercises designed to help young people manage stress, improve focus and maintain their physical and mental health.

The NUST event was organised in close collaboration with the Zimbabwe Medical Students Association and The Art of Living foundation.

The embassy extended its sincere gratitude to Vice-Chancellor Professor Mqhele Dlodlo and the entire administration of NUST for facilitating and supporting the event on campus.

The great interest and active engagement shown by the students gave the embassy further motivation to expand these wellness programmes.

Moving forward, the embassy plans to host future Yoga events on a grander scale to share these healthy lifestyle practices with as many Zimbabweans as possible across the country.

“This successful gathering in Bulawayo is part of a broader Yoga tour launched by the Embassy earlier this month,” the embassy said yesterday.

“The journey began on May 15 with a youth wellness session at Young Africa in Chitungwiza.

“The tour then moved to Mashonaland East on May 19 for a session at Wise Owl in Marondera. Following this, the team travelled to Mutare for two days of activities on May 20 and 21, introducing yoga techniques to students at Hillcrest School and to budding young cricketers at the Mutare Sports Club.”

The embassy said these regional sessions serve as a build-up to the upcoming 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations.

Over the last 12 years, IDY has grown into a global movement, presenting Yoga as a shared gift for health and well-being that connects people across borders.

“Building on the momentum from Bulawayo, the embassy will next host a Premier Event to mark the 12th IDY on June 14, 2026, at 0830 hours at India House in Harare.

“This lead-up event will prepare the ground for the main, iconic IDY celebration, which will take place on June 21, 2026, at the historic location of Victoria Falls.

“Through these activities, the embassy remains committed to strengthening the close cultural ties between India and Zimbabwe and supporting healthy, stress-free lifestyles.”
