Rising hip-hop artiste Travis Thulani Ncube, popularly known as 60kslime, is set to ignite the music scene with the release of his upcoming single titled T.D.G.A.F.A.T on May 30.
The emotionally-charged single is inspired by the artiste’s real-life struggle of balancing two personalities: Travis, the calm and law-abiding citizen, and 60kslime, the street-influenced rapper shaped by trap culture and harsh realities.
"The single was inspired by my current life situation, where I battle two personalities, Travis and 60kslime. One being a good law-abiding citizen and the other being a rapper and street dude," he told NewsDay Life & Style.
The artiste revealed that the song was created from a place of raw emotion and deep personal reflection during a studio session while searching through trap beats.
"The creative process consisted of raw emotion and personal reflection," he said.
Beyond the music, the single delivers powerful social and cultural messages centred on self-acceptance, inner peace and the importance of embracing every part of one’s identity.
"The social and cultural message embedded in my music is learning how to live with your inner self as one, because once the two are separated, you might lose both. Always stay true to yourself and never be afraid to let your inner self show," 60kslime said.
Every lyric in the song is drawn directly from real-life experiences, crafted to resonate with listeners through honesty and emotional depth.
"The lyrics show every detail of the narrative and direction of the song because they are self-explanatory and not one lie was told,'' he shared.
The release is expected to give fans and his family a deeper understanding of the side of him that is usually hidden from the public.
"I hope this release gives my viewers and family a glimpse of the life and personality I don’t show. People live in facades, so we have to bring what we do to light, no matter how ugly it is, because that is the real you," the artiste said.
The artiste added that the project was one of his most personal works yet, as it gave audiences a chance to understand who he truly was behind the scenes.
"This release is personal for me because this is solely about my life," he said.
Despite the emotional depth of the song, 60kslime says he has no regrets about the experiences that shaped him.
"I do not have regrets because that won’t change the past, so I wouldn’t have wanted to approach it any differently because I would have not been true to myself," he said.
More than just another release in the hip-hop space, T.D.G.A.F.A.T positions itself as a bold and honest reflection of life lived on two extremes.
The artiste uses the single to blur the lines between artiste and individual, reality and expression, street influence and personal growth.
The single does not attempt to hide imperfections but instead embraces them, turning inner conflict into a powerful narrative.
