RENOWNED poet and musician Albert Nyathi’s poems, My Son and My Daughter, were auctioned for US$180 at the recently held Enterprise Leaders and Innovators Society for Africa (ELISA) summit at Gwango Heritage Resort in Hwange.
The summit, themed Business Beyond Borders, attracted delegates from over 20 African countries.
Nyathi’s emotive performance of My Daughter drew significant attention, with attendees appreciating the powerful messages conveyed through his work.
Nyathi expressed gratitude to ELISA organisers and hinted at an album release this year.
“I am very much humbled by the reception of these poems,” he said.
“I wrote the pieces to inspire our children and I am thrilled they are resonating with audiences across the globe.”

The prize money can be nothing worth celebrating, but for two poems, that was a huge achievement.
The voice behind the Senzenina hit, Nyathi is set to perform at the Inkaba festival in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, on June 27.
His other notable works include Welcome to Zimbabwe and I Will Not Speak.
