A NEW drama series titled No Woman is Single, written by Zimbabwe-born filmmaker Promise Ncube, is captivating audiences with its bold exploration of betrayal, brotherhood and the dangers of mixing love with blood ties.

Shot in various locations across Soweto and Hillbrow in South Africa, the drama follows the intense and emotionally-charged story of two Mdluli brothers — Mestoe and 24 Hours — whose lives are torn apart after they fall in love with the same woman, Belinda.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, actress and former dancer Sanele Ncube, who plays Belinda, said the story centred on love, loyalty and the devastating consequences of romantic betrayal within a family.

“24 Hours dated Belinda first, but when he was jailed for his involvement in mafia activities, Belinda got into a relationship with his younger brother, Mestoe,” Ncube said.

She explained that tensions escalated when 24 Hours was released from prison and got to know about the relationship.

“There was a big fight when he found out, but Mestoe stood his ground and continued dating Belinda. They even planned a wedding," said Ncube.

According to Ncube, the situation reached boiling point on the day of the wedding when 24 Hours was gunned down — although he survived the attack.

“He had been sent to fetch someone, but there were people after him. Things were already very sour between him and his younger brother,” she added.

The drama delves into the emotional toll of love triangles within families, particularly among relatives.

“It teaches us not to date within the same family. It destroys relationships and families,” Ncube said.

No Woman is Single premiered on October 5 under 24Hours TV Production. Ncube said four episodes had been shot so far, with the full series expected to run for more than 30 episodes.
