MASHAMBANZOU Care Trust will on October 11 celebrate 35 years of service to vulnerable Zimbabweans, with an open-day fundraiser at its Waterfalls offices, the organisation has announced.

The celebration, which will coincide with the International Day of the Girl Child and the birthday celebrations of artiste Dereck Mpofu, will showcase music, food, exhibitions and performances from Zimbabwean artistes.

Organisers say the event will reflect on the organisation’s three-and-a-half-decade history and raise funds for a critical piece of hospital equipment.

“We are celebrating not only our history and milestones but also securing the future of our services,” Mashambanzou director Constance Chigwamba said.

The trust is raising funds to replace a non-functional incinerator used by its 30‑bed hospital.

The new unit is estimated to cost US$9 000, with all proceeds of the day set to go towards the purchase of the new unit to ensure safe disposal of medical waste and protect patients, staff and the surrounding community.
