ZIMBABWEAN gospel musician and worship leader Khonzani Bhebhe is preparing to fulfil what he describes as a divine assignment through his first live DVD recording, Songs of Revival, scheduled for July 4.
The Bulawayo-born singer, songwriter and music minister says the project is more than a musical production, it is a calling inspired by a life-changing encounter with God in 2020 that placed the message of revival firmly in his heart.
The live recording will feature seven original songs carrying messages of revival, hope, restoration, holiness and a deeper relationship with God.
“Songs of Revival is a worship project centred on the message of revival, calling people back to God through authentic worship and the transforming power of His love,” Bhebhe said.
“More than just a musical production, but a ministry assignment that was born out of a life-changing encounter I had with God in 2020.”
After spending a number of years serving as a background vocalist for established gospel artistes and ministries, this will be his first live DVD recording as a lead artiste.

Bhebhe released his debut single, Revival (Lord, We Want More), in October 2025, a song that reflects the message that has become the defining theme of his ministry.
“The new DVD will feature seven original songs,” he said.
“Every song carries a message of revival, hope, restoration, holiness and a deeper relationship with God.
“These songs invite people to return wholeheartedly to God, experience His presence and encounter His transforming power.”
Many of the songs were written over several years and are inspired by his personal testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness.
At the heart of the project is a desire to see lives transformed through worship.
“For me, music is much more than entertainment; it is a calling from God.
“My purpose is to use the gift He has given me to lead people into genuine worship and create opportunities for them to encounter Jesus Christ.”
Born and raised in Bulawayo, Bhebhe’s passion for music began in church.
He was inspired by his father’s involvement in gospel music and by watching his sisters prepare songs and presentations for church services.
Naturally shy, he developed a love for worship from a young age and gradually embraced his calling as a worship leader.
His musical journey formally began at Matopo High School, where he joined a gospel group called Joy Unspeakable.
Later, while studying at Wanezi High School, he became part of another gospel ensemble, amaJoy Joy, where his passion for music ministry deepened.
During that period, he encountered gospel musician Andile Ndlovu, whose passion and commitment to worship became a major source of inspiration.
Bhebhe later joined the vocal group Vocal Ex under Ndlovu’s mentorship, an experience he credits with sharpening his vocal abilities and exposing him to a professional approach to music ministry.
He said it was a privilege that Ndlovu would be among those participating in the upcoming live recording.
Over the years, Bhebhe has built extensive experience as a backing vocalist, working with artistes and ministries including Mnqobi Nxumalo, Siyakha Khitha, Lorraine Maplanka, Snowy, Nkosi Herman and Thandiwe Tanewe, among others.
He credits several spiritual mentors and church leaders for helping to shape his ministry journey, including Simnqobile Mangena, whom he says encouraged him to embrace praise and worship ministry.
As preparations for the live DVD recording gather momentum, Bhebhe remains focused on the spiritual purpose behind the project.
“Through Songs of Revival, I want to remind people that revival is not just an event, but a personal return to God’s heart.
“If someone encounters Christ through one of my songs, then I believe I have fulfilled my assignment.”
His vision, he added, is simple.
“My desire is that whenever I hold the microphone, people must not simply hear my voice, but they must encounter Christ.”
