BY LIFE & STYLE REPORTER SOUTH AFRICA-BASED Zimbabwean gospel musician Alpha “Makoti” Nhambure-Chipare is back home and tonight she launches her latest production Yahweh, a four-track extended play (EP).
The EP comes barely 10 months after she launched her 10-track album titled I Wanna Dance.
It was co-produced by Zimbabwean producer Gibson Makumbe of VOT Studios and South African Diva Size at Size Music Production Studio. A civil engineer by profession, Makoti told NewsDay Life & Style, that after tonight’s launch on a local radio station, she would have another one for the fans via WhatsApp.
“Having recorded most of my songs on my last album in South Africa, I so much wanted to record a full album here in Zimbabwe to give a different feel to the music. However, this did not happen due to COVID-19 challenges, hence releasing an EP instead of a full album,” she said.
Makoti said the inspiration for the EP title came from her inner urge to acknowledge God by His multiple names as Yahweh, Jireh, Rapha, Shamma, Rohi, Shalom and Nissan, among others.
“The main message of the EP is to say Yahweh, Jehovah is the Father. He is our provider, healer, shepherd, protector, our peace. We must always live a righteous life. We must always have faith in him and not on sangomas who might mislead us,” she said.

“My strength, when composing music, is infusing a message that transforms one’s life, while at the same time winning souls to the Kingdom of God.”
Makoti said she had done videos for songs Yahweh ndi Baba and Vanopindura Nemoto that will officially be released on her YouTube channel on Saturday after the launch.
The Gutu-bred singer’s discography is made up of The Alpha (2014), Muzita Rashe (2015), Vanotigarira Dare (2016), I Wanna Dance (2021) and the latest Yahweh.
