Old Mutual Zimbabwe group CEO, Jonas Mushosho has been appointed regional chief executive officer for Southern and East Africa, taking over from Tavaziva Madzinga, who is leaving the financial services group after 15 years.

Madzinga is leaving to join Swiss Re as CEO for Middle East and Africa business.

Mushosho will take over the reins on October 1 and will concurrently hold the position of group CEO for Old Mutual Zimbabwe based in Harare.

Old Mutual Emerging Markets (OEM) chief executive officer, Ralph Mupita said Mushosho and Madzinga would work together to ensure a smooth handover.

“Jonas [Mushosho] has the critical experience in life, short-term insurance and banking that we need to drive our East Africa strategy forward and strengthen our footprint on the continent. He will work with Tava [Madzinga] over the next few months to ensure a smooth handover,” he said.

Mushosho was appointed group CEO of Old Mutual Zimbabwe in 2012 and has been with the Old Mutual group for 26 years.
