Serial Men’s Physique bodybuilding champion, Itai Blessing Sithole a.k.a CC Banks, has praised Transport minister Felix Mhona and MP Scott Sakupwanya for supporting his recent participation at South Africa’s international shows. .

The muscleman, Sithole set on top of the world winning gold, silver and bronze medals at two high profile shows after the disappointment of a third place finish at the Zim Nationals in Harare last month.

CC Banks shone like a beacon at the International Federation of Bodybuilding National Physique Committee (IFBB NPC) in Cape Town and the Summer Superbodies at Paterson Park Sports Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa winning gold medals at both events.

“My journey started off with Mr Zimbabwe where I surprisingly got third place but I wouldn’t want to comment much on that. I was surprised that I even got third place because to be honest I had fully prepared myself and thought that my physique would guarantee me a straight gold medal. Unfortunately for some reasons, I don’t know why and how I got third place. I still don’t agree with that decision and I will never agree with that decision but it is what it is, we move on,” Sithole told NewsDay Sport.

“A week after the Zim Nationals, I was in Cape Town and I did the IFBB NPC international show that attracted athletes from all over the world and I managed to get one gold medal and one silver. It was a very tough competition but I managed to pull through. When you're facing well-sponsored international athletes from all over the world it’s no joke but we managed to pull through with some impressive results.”

The Country Club Gym personal fitness trainer was back in Johannesburg for the Summer Superbodies gig and he bagged overall gold in his Men’s Physique category.

“I went to another international show, the Summer Superbodies, again came face-to-face against some well-sponsored athletes with supportive coaches, sponsors and everything. I managed to get a bronze medal in the Classic Physique division which I entered for fun,” he said.

“In fact I could have won it but the judges said you couldn’t vacuum, the vacuum is a requirement in that category but it’s not my category I just did it for fun. In my main category, I got gold in my line up and then I won the overall line up. I thank God for that, I thank my two gracious sponsors in honourable, Sakupwanya, the man with a golden heart and determined to transform the local sporting landscape in a bigger way and Mhona, whose transport DNA in him has pushed him to be a welcome vehicle in my bodybuilding journey. They made me look nice and confident in front of seasoned campaigners from across the world and without their support my dieting would have consisted of only our staple sadza which is not good for bodybuilding. Moving forward, I keep competing and maybe I will do a few local shows but my main focus now is on the international scene.”
