Ngezi seek to bounce back to winning formula

A win over Chicken Inn will inspire the Takesure Chiragwi-coached Ngezi Platinum’s ambitions to land their maiden league title but they will have to pass the next hurdle of beating Dynamos in Harare.

NGEZI Platinum Stars will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways after their setback last week to try and maintain their stranglehold at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log standings when they host Chicken Inn at Baobab this afternoon.

Madamburo slumped last week when they fell 1-0 to reigning champions FC Platinum and today face Chicken Inn who have proved to be  potential party poppers.

Highlanders tumbled from the apex after losing to FC Platinum, the GameCocks and Dynamos in a row and Ngezi will be hoping to avoid suffering the same fate.

A win over Chicken Inn will inspire the Takesure Chiragwi-coached Ngezi Platinum’s ambitions to land their maiden league title but they will have to pass the next hurdle of beating Dynamos in Harare.

Their last six games include Yadah (home), Hwange (away), Sheasham at home, Simba Bhora (away), Cranborne Bullets (home) before the trip to Barbourfields Stadium to face Highlanders.

It’s the same fixtures that have given Highlanders a headache as they have only beaten Yadah out of those six teams.

Chicken Inn also desperately need the win as they have played five draws on the trot with their last win on September 3 when they dismissed Highlanders 2-0.

They have  plunged to position six with 40 points, eleven behind Ngezi Platinum.

The team to watch is FC Platinum which looks geared to retain the title. Pure Platinum Play have slowly risen up the ladder to the second spot with 46 points, five behind Ngezi as they head to Nyamhunga Stadium where they take on ZPC Kariba today.

Struggling Highlanders are now in position three with 45 points and entertain Cranborne Bullets at BF tomorrow without coach Baltemar Brito, who is taking charge of the Warriors’ training camp in Harare.

Madinda Ndlovu and Joel Luphahla will fit into Brito’s shoes.

Manica Diamonds and Dynamos’ match has been postponed.
