A LUPANE family which recently sent an SOS to raise money to buy a wheelchair for its eight-year-old child received a wheelchair from a resident in the district.

The donor, however, wished to remain anonymous and was not able to comment.

The child’s mother Sanele Mathe, applauded the donor for coming to the family’s aid.

“I would like to thank the donors for the wheelchair, I want to say thank you to the donors for having such a kind heart towards my son.

“May the Lord bless them for what they did. I also want to thank my son, Jeans, who spread my child’s story on social media,” she told Southern Eye in an interview on Sunday.

Bonginkosi Tshongwe from Esigabeni Segcono in Matabeleland North province has been suffering from the ailment since he was four months old.

“Bonginkosi was born without any disabilities or diseases, but when he was four months old, my son started to have this problem. At the time, we had begun to train him how to sit but he could not,” she said.

“I went to Mpilo Hospital many times for exercises and checkups, but the situation did not change. Bonginkosi only eats soft food because he cannot chew. We must feed, bathe and clothe him.”

Mathe said her son cannot speak.

“He cannot walk which makes it hard for him to go to the restroom. He puts on diapers, but they are expensive for us,” she said.

His father, Simosezwe, said: “We once went to the Department of Social Welfare to ask for assistance, but they could not assist us.”

Mathe’s EcoCash number is 0789458441.
